Thank you all for joining me at my opening exhibition and helping to make it such a good time, a pachanga, a lively party in Mexico.
I painted Yolanda as she worked selling hand woven huipils, blouses, in the park. I had done her portrait once already and also painted portraits of her aunt and grandmother Doña Margarita, who came from Oaxaca, brought here by a priest who felt there was a market in Vallarta for her weavings. They are Trique, indigenous people of Oaxaca.
My show opens Thursday December 17 from 3-7 pm at
Angeline Kyba Studio, Cuauhtemoc 635, Puerto Vallarta
Fellow artist and sculptor, handsome man about town, he saw the portrait I painted of Santiago and said he too had eyes like that. Maybe he said ojos bravos, so I said I had better paint them then and we did it in my studio.
